Really…this is pathetic. When you have to use the report on the president’s annual physical to give a shrill yell, throw hate darts and play politics, then you might as well just give it up, get back into the sandbox and stop even pretending that you are grown-ups.
ATTENTION DEMOCRATS: If you want to be taken seriously - at all - in the next two elections, then you must learn appropriate responses. In this case, the appropriate response to good news about the president’s health is this:
We are happy to hear that President Bush enjoys good health, and we wish him continued good health as we proceed to work with him when we can, and in loyal oppostition when we feel we must, for the good of the nation we all cherish.
That’s called…A MATURE RESPONSE.
I swear, sometimes I just want to take these people by the shoulders and shake them and say “Grow up! GROW UP!”
H/T Michelle. Lorie Byrd is also pretty appalled. And Lyflines is just disgusted.
WELCOME: Michelle Malkin and CQ readers. While you’re here, please look around. We’re also wondering why the press is ignoring President Bush’s remarkable answer to the misbegotten Kyoto Treaty, we’re remembering what War on Terror means, and we’re getting beaten up by a nun with a tennis racket.

Look at it this way… If this is all the Democrats have left to attack the President, it is a certain indication of their absolute failure as a political opponent. Their ideas have no substance. Now, neither do their attacks.
This is the way a movement dies… not with a bang or a whimper, but with drooling, incoherent, blather.

If you’re going to “shake” a Michael Moore, you may need a 10′ hardwood beam to use as a lever or one of those fancy hydaulic devices used in warehouse material handling. Grabbing the shoulders simply won’t work. He’s as immovable, as are his distorted views of the world. By contrast, lest anyone think I am jaded, Jimmy Carter can be shaken by the shoulders and quite easily. Indeed, Jimmy Carter was regularly shakened while occupying the White House, as were all Americans!

My old high school now has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, state-of-the-art weightlifting facilities, small-group fitness trainers, etc.
-
My folks brag about the school unceasingly. Then they gripe about their property taxes.
-
My response: “Do you see any correlation, any at all, between the two?”
-
Duh.
-
Anyway, it doesn’t take Olymipc-sized swimming pools and state-of-the-art weightlifting equipment to keep kids fit.
-
It takes parents who will buy fruit and veggies instead of Doritos and ice cream. I.e., parents who will be PARENTS. One of us has to be the grown up. May as well be the parent.
-
It takes a ball and a flat place, and if you don’t have a ball, don’t worry, an empty tin can will do. If you don’t have that either, give kids a flat place and they’ll make do.
-
It doesn’t take gender-based legislation. Ladies, you get a ball or a can or a flat spot, too.
-
Yeah, I’m a curmudgeon on this topic. I get sick of hearing how “Our kids need…” hundreds of thousands of dollars of facilities and equipment. No, they don’t. A ball will do fine for soccer, kickball, dodgeball, etc. A tin can will do great for kick the can. If you have neither–run foot races, play tag, play red rover, do calisthenics, etc.
-
Sheesh.

OK, now the DNC’s just being sad. . .
“Won’t someone PLEASE think about the children?”
Today the DNC attempted (via a press release) to spin the fact that they can’t get any of their agenda through legislation because of Bush’s physical fitness. Huh? So if Bush were a slovenly lay-…

Note to Mr. Gator (#9): “Yeah, I’m a curmudgeon on this topic. I get sick of hearing how “Our kids need…” hundreds of thousands of dollars of facilities and equipment. No, they don’t. –
Oh, no, the kids can’t play dodgeball, kickball, soccer, or kick the can. They can’t race or play tag or “Red Rover.” Those games are too competitive! Someone is always the loser, always “it”, and their self-esteem will be irrevocably damaged.
–
Or they might slip on the asphalt, skin their knee or their elbow. Mom & Dad will be down at the office first thing with a lawyer complaining about neglect and “Why wasn’t the adult on the yard WATCHING them?!” And the school district just cannot afford another lawsuit.
–
I guess we could ask the kids, quite nicely and with great respect, if they might possibly care to take a careful stroll around the yard? At their leisure and with no pressure to perform whatsoever.
–
Sarcasm off.

How about saying nothing? Why does this even call for a Democrat response? Are they so worried that people will forget they’re out
there?
All this does is reinforce the impression that they’re obsessed with the fact that GWB beat them twice. Any neutral person would think this is a mental problem, and that Democrats are no longer a sane alternative to the Republicans.

YOU LOOK FAT IN THOSE WORKOUT CLOTHES
As Radley Balko points out, it’s more than a little ridiculous to think that George W. Bush is obese. And yet, according to U.S. government Body Mass Index standards, overweight he is. The absurdity of this conclusion is just mind-boggling….

March Hare:
-
To continue along your theme, how can we possibly suggest that kids should WALK around the schoolyard?
-
What about children who have disabilities? What would that do to THEIR self-esteem, to see their classmates carefully picking their way across the lawn, being ever-vigilant for deadly pebbles or twigs in their path, while the disabled children are unable to join them?
-
Maybe the best thing is to issue every schoolchild a soft, well-padded couch.
-
LOL.
