A Katrina Contribution in Memoriam?

***BUMPED UP*** Scroll down for newest entries!

The Katrina Aid Weekend is in full swing - reported contributions now top $622,000.00. DropCash, is showing contributions of almost $128,000, as well, so the blogs have raised, literally, three quarters of a million dollars - are we on track to break a million? I really hope so! How generous people are, how readily folks are willing to do what is needed to come to the aid of their fellows! It’s very heartening.

Had an idea last night that some might find appealing - why not make a donation (or a second if you are inclined) in memory of a loved one? I did it last night for my brother. After making your donation - by check or credit card - to your preferred charity, go to the log in page and instead of putting your name, write “In Memory of (name)” or “In Memoriam.” Kind of a nice way to bring your departed loved ones into an effort they would have supported.

It is really quite stunning to see what the blogosphere is doing. As Buster would say, “mad props to the organizers!” That would be Instapundit, Hugh Hewitt and The Truth Laid Bear.

TTLB does have one notice that is worth repeating: Contribution information is provided by donors on the ‘honor system’ and has not been validated by TTLB. Please be honest!

A REMINDER: For the month of September, instead of donating my Anchoress Bookshelf proceeds to my brother’s hospice, I am going to divert all proceeds to the Salvation Army for Katrina Aid. If you have to buy textbooks, school things, bulk snacks, DVD’s and CD’s, etc - or if you are like me and start Christmas shopping in September - please consider making your purchases via The Anchoress Bookshelf - it’s a painless way to donated additional funds to the effort!

HOLY MOLEY! I just happened to check, and I see Anchoress Readers have reported almost $8,500.00 in donations. Added to those already mentioned, thanks to gcb, Mayi, Joanne, M. Easterling, Darrell, Debbo, Mary Ann & Fred, Gracie, John & Mary, Grits, Ann, Bob D and Melissa! My readers are the best! Don’t stop!

    Where will Snowball go?

A dog found his own way home — on a train after being separated from his owner.  But where will Snowball go?
