September 19, 2005A masterful exposition (updated)
Masterful is the only world for it - the blogger-coordinated revelation of gobs and gobs of Government Pork which might be cut-worthy-for-Katrina-rebuilding! I am really proud to see the blogs take the lead in this with TTLB’s amazing PORKBUSTERS page. This is one of those ideas that seemed to grow spontaneously between blogs - its germ seems to have been a response to Glenn Reynolds initial gathering of “pork” information and it has grown into something quite impressive. I hope every congressman and senator gets a look at what the blogs have identified as “pork” and gets serious about cuts. Obviously not everything blogs call “pork” can be cut…but at first glance, this looks awfully informative and definitive. Reynolds has more here This is exciting, and increasingly this sort of information-gathering and centering seems to be when blogs are at their best. Another masterful exposition: Patterico has one - a truly broad exposition of Paul Krugman unprofessionalism and his inability to deliver with intellectual honesty. This is a must-read. And a masterful bit of diplomacy: Ed Morrissey looks at N. Korea’s agreement to end its nuclear program. He also looks at the rather smashing (if underreported) success of the Afghani elections. I agree with Hugh Hewitt who suggests that EJ Dionne may have prematurely predicted the end of the Bush era. But I think a lot of writers are going to regret some of the Bush-hating-bile they puked up post-Katrina. A look around the blogs (bear with me, I was blog-free this weekend!) gives us some stories on the kindness of strangers in Katrina’s aftermath, even as the region gears up for Rita in what is shaping up to be the fourth busiest hurricane season on record. Speaking of Katrina - Wuzzadem has ANOTHER exposition - this time it seems that one of the Enduring Myths of Katrina was a big fat lie. And Russert bought it. H/T Betsy Newmark. UPDATE: Myth exposed, NBC-MSNBC retracts. And they do it right, with a headline as big as the initial story! Well done. Mother Sheehan has either crossed a line or jumped a shark, here, or she simply has so completely believed her own hype that she believes she can take on Hillary Clinton. Um…no, Mrs. Sheehan, you can’t. You can make some of this noise for a little while, because it makes Mrs. Clinton appear more “centrist” and that is useful to her…but your blatant disrespect is not going to go over well, and the press will not gush, this time. For all your paranoia that Bush was going to have you “arrested or killed,” he never broke into your set to redirect your scene. The freinds of Hillary will. And soon. http://theanchoressonline.com/2005/09/19/a-masterful-exposition/trackback/ 6 Responses to “A masterful exposition (updated)” |

I’d say she stuck her head in the lioness’ den. We will see what happens.

NBC-MSNBC does it right? First off, the MSM should have spotted this story as a hoax. Instead, RightWing Bloggers had to do the heavy lifting—again! And that retraction? “Misunderstanding” is one way to put it. A lie to cast the blame on FEMA and Bush is another way. Someone reading that NBC retraction would have a hard time figuring out what this all means. I’m sure that’s accidental! Now lets see if the rest of the MSM who gave this story a major splash does the right thing. They did call it the defining moment of their Katrina coverage afterall…

Darrell - Yes, yes, yes….but still. They came back and gave the story a big correction - they could have written three lines and shoved thems somewhere no one would ever see. If we want to see more corrections that have some space and weight to them, we have to applaud when a baby step is taken. It’s called parenting!

Yes, you are right. We have to be thankful for anything that resembles the truth in the MSM today. Maybe they can even point out Clinton’s “misunderstandings” next. One of them could go to their library and perhaps recount Bill saying almost the exact same words as Bush. Wouldn’t that be a miracle?

Darrell,
Well done is well done. And that correction is well done :-).

The news today showed that Saint Sheehan was carted away by the NYPD during one of her speeches in Manhattan. Gee, I wonder who ordered that?
