October 12, 2005Ever feel like you just can’t keep up?Something like that is happening to me. Too much news! Too much opinion! I try to read it all, and I cannot keep up. I don’t know how Michelle and Glenn do it! Moreover, I am convinced that while all this Miers writing is going on, important stories are going missing. So, I’m just going to link to a few things that I think are important or interesting, and then I’m going to spend the rest of the day writing about whatever I want. But…because this is pretty cute - first check out Justin’s Conservative Ice Age Video. Let’s just say it: Dr. Condoleeza Rice is an outstanding Sec. of State. Or, as Jack Kelly says, “Not bad for a prez who, some conservative intellectuals think, is too stupid to know where a close associate of 20 years stands on the great legal issues of our time.” Speaking of Jack Kelly - he is asking the intemperate and politically incorrect question. Judith Klinghoffer says We’re winning the war in Iraq. I believe her. Hey, the FBI is finally looking into that plane theft although not - it seems - too enthusiastically. How Much Blame Does Kathleen Blanco Deserve?” Oh, heaps and heaps. Jayson is wondering why the ACLU didn’t File a Lawsuit to enjoin this meeting from taking place, and answers his own question. Betsy Newmark has two interesting blurbs. In the first she wonders: “Do you think it’s just an honest error that Air France and other French facilities had some sort of mistake in their software that banned access to the Jerusalem Post?” In the second, she looks again at the Akaka bill which is getting ZERO coverage in the press and which if passed will give special rights to Native Hawaiians and open a whollllle canful of worms within the U.S. It seems Sen. Akaka took some liberties with the Adminstrations opinion on the issue. Now there is a complication that involves…egad, how tiresome…another apology. Which has nothing to do with anything, in the long run. Go read it. Lawyer Rosslyn Smith suggests perhaps the SCOTUS needs a “lay” judge. Her idea is interesting, but I don’t like the use of the word “lay.” The SCOTUS already think themselves a priesthood of sorts. I always did like Stephen Colbert better than Jon Stewart! Plame affair: Tom McQuire - astonishing work - give this man a prize! AJ Strata breaks it down to a digestible level. Mac’s Mind “Rogue CIA agents?” The liberal Daily Howler says Joe Wilson is lying, pure and simple and it’s it’s a persuasive piece. My take: I’ve believed from the start that the press was going to be sorry they made such a stink over this non-story and insisted on an investigation. I still believe it. Andrea Mitchell has never looked happy about this story and she has one awful poker face. I mean she can’t hide her thoughts well - don’t take that to be a disparagement of her appearance. Although she is too blonde right now. WHOOPS! A new Cotillion went up without my posting about it. My bad. This one is called “I lost my virginity at the ball…” Kinda like, “I lost my wallet in El Segundo,” so you might have to go read it! Liveblogging an interview w/ Ken Mehlmen. I was invited to participate but had already committed to carpool a bunch of teenagers to driver’s ed. Thus Motherhood trumps Glory one more time! http://theanchoressonline.com/2005/10/12/ever-feel-like-you-just-cant-keep-up/trackback/ 3 Responses to “Ever feel like you just can’t keep up?” |

The thing of it is, with Glenn I think he doesn’t even scan the blogs himself as much any more.
He just reads his no doubt considerable email, since people email him tips/links all the time.
Michelle, because she’s a full-time journalist, and becoming increasingly more well-known (hello Fox News), I’m guessing MUST have a staff.
Even a staff of one, who monitors stories she might be interested in.
If they do it all themselves, and are married, with kids, the whole nine yards, well…respect.
Cheers,
Victoria

Let’s just say it: Dr. Condoleeza Rice is an outstanding Sec. of State.
My only reservation and hesitancy in repeatedly pushing her for Prez or VP is the near absolute fact that the same folks who are savaging Miers for her perceived conservative impurities are guaranteed to savage Sec. Rice for being a possible pro-choicer or neutral on abortion — and they will only succeed in pushing her away from the pro-life cause instead of converting her to it.
They did the same thing with Colin Powell — an undeniably decent man with much integrity, who they (Gary Bauer chief among them) ripped and berated until he was definitely not on the hard right and now never will be.
