October 22, 2005Schumer dirty tricks all but forgottenThe ladies and gentlemen of the fourth estate, dedicated to truth, justice and…and…well, anything that can help get that bastard Bush, still display a remarkably incurious attitude over Chuck Schumer’s dirty tricks. Near as I can tell, the New York Times still hasn’t written a word about it, but at least the NY Sun mentions it in the lede.. They displayed, as you recall, a similar incuriosity about Sandy Berger and whatever it was he had stashed in his pants as he left the National Archives. The press isn’t really interested in the foibles and follies of people with D’s after their names, after all. Or, I guess, folks with exotic names who call for genocide or, I guess…for politically correct anti-semites (it’s not a big leap, btw, to call them fascists, the way they disallow free speech, or even free thought). Nope…the press isn’t interested in any of that. There are lots of things about which the press is not interested. It is not interested in any connections which may be found between their beloved United Nations and Al Qaeda or Saddam. It is not interested in fund-raising violations unless the violations are made (or even if they’re not) by people with R’s after their names. They are not interested in setting straight exactly who it is that pays the bulk of taxes in America. They are not interested in protest babes in the Middle East. And considering how quick the press is to embrace the narrative that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” well…the press doesn’t seem interested in genocide in Zimbabwe, if the guy in charge is a communist. The press is not interested in Muslims rioting because a play insults them…that’s funny, when you think about it, isn’t it? I mean, when Christians quietly and legally protested such insulting “works of art” as this or this or this the press was calling them “narrow-minded” and “fascists” and “fundamentalist hysterics.” And yet…somehow…when Muslim fundamentalists kill three and stab a nun because they don’t like a play, this is unremarkable and - apparently - unobjectionable. Does the press -so good at discerning who the real bad guys are (George Bush and his minions) - understand that the very people whose madness they chose to underreport will destroy them the very first chance they get? Think I’m exaggerating? if you’ll put a bomb under your baby, you’ll kill anyone. Ah, now. That’s just me being intolerant, again. And I never say this about anyone, but I must say it now - Al Franken is vile just vile. You always get the fact from Al Franken! I bet he told Dave all about stealing money from the children’s charity. And I’m sure Dave asked all about it!
