The left wets itself in glee…

2000 deaths, they shout! 2000!

Well, not so fast.

Read everything this active Major has to say.

It seems remarkable to me that we could liberate millions of people and help guide them toward Democracy, (in two countries) inspire others in the area to work for Democracy, get Libya to turn over its weapons…with relatively few (though always tragic) losses. Our military lose on average, 500 men and women a year through accidents during training or transport. Even if the loss is not in battle, it is tragic. Today I am sending up a special prayer for all the families of all of our lost and wounded troops, no matter what the circumstances of their deaths - but I’m looking with disgust at those who would exploit them.

Michelle Malkin has much more. And a recently returned soldier writes a moving and compelling piece - no, he’s not praising the press.

I think if Cindy Sheehan wants to chain herself to the fence surrounding the White House, she should. It’s a free country. God bless her son, Casey for helping to keep it so.

It is astonishing to see the joy and frenzy at the death of a soldier whose sole purpose was to bring freedom to an oppressed nation.

    Joy and celebration at death.

These are the wages of freedom run wild, freedom without accountability, the freedom of the narcissist and the freedom of those who believe freedom need not be paid for.

What a bunch of jerks! To actually be happy on others’ suffering.

No wonder someone on the Web once called the media “Satan’s Little Helpers”!

Perspective #1: the Congress (our elected representatives) voted to go into Iraq on a prevailing assumption at the time that it might cost 10,000 lives within a few *weeks*.
Perspective #2: we lost over 2,000 in *hours* on September 11th. Yeah, I know. They’re not related. Not related at all.

Well, it’s not like America wouldn’t be free without the invasion of Iraq. This whole freedom thing is cited just a little too often. World War II? Sure, there freedom really was in danger. However, ten 9/11’s wouldn’t change anything about America’s democratic status - unless the people decided to basically impose martial law on themselves.

The choice was not Iraq or bust.

Here’s my only question on this topic.

Can any of these folks who today are trumpeting the 2000 number name five of those 2000?

Just five. Without Googling, or checking their archives. How about 3?

I’d settle for one (and Casey Sheehan doesn’t count).

If these folks who purportedly care so very much and who rend their shirts in feigned grief can name, off the top of their heads, five soldiers killed in Iraq in the past two years, then perhaps I’d be willing to listen to what they had to say. Otherwise they have no standing and I call them craven opportunists.
