December 1, 2005Happy Trails! My hubby and I are taking our first weekend away together in almost 8 years. Nice little B&B upstate, Buster’s concert on Sunday. We expect to do exactly nothing. Sleep. Read. Ahem. Sleep some more. We’re really looking forward to it and hopefully will come back refreshed. In the meantime, a few links I’ve been meaning to give you all day or week, as the case may be: Confederate Yankee catches CNN being dumb again. They’re so anxious to do “negative reflections on Bush” that they just keep stepping in it. This much hatred cannot be constructive. Dick Meyer writes an awfully good piece here which examines conservatism 25 years on. I’m waiting for him to do the same for liberals - taken together it could be very instructive. Sigmund Carl and Alfred write on the battle for America’s soul. Betsy gives an interesting lesson on Napoleon’s Victory at Austerlitz. Kind of an acerbic lesson! Julie clues us in on the best way to read War and Peace and other classics. Bi Partisan Corruption makes me think a pox on both houses H/T Instapundit. Jason has more The Visitation Nuns of Georgetown have begun a blog to keep the Dominican Monastics company! Read why The Therapist is Thankful for Dean Martin. I have been meaning to link to this for a few days - a really wonderful bit of writing that is about a man taking his son for an audition. But it is about so much more. Enjoy. Operation Phone Home - a great idea! This would be a great commercial if it were a commercial. This news would be all over the place if anyone else were in the WH. John Leo’s got a blog. I will be making these cookies this year in honor of my brother S. And this I am re-linking to, only because for some reason I saw three different folks accessing it via my sitemeter…so, I don’t know why, but someone seems to think it’s relevent. I don’t think it’s particularly relevent these days…these days, many women in black hijabs these days have reasons to dance, and many things to celebrate. I blame George Bush. If you need more to read, please check out my blogroll - they’re all really good spots to visit. Also, take a gander at the Bookshelf - I highly recommend James Lilek’s Mommy Knows Worst if you’re having trouble finding the right gift for someone - it’s gut bustingly funny…and as usual, all monies realized from sales via the Bookshelf will be donated to the hospice which helped us with my brother. I expect we will not be staying at a wi-fi sort of place, so if we have no connections, see y’all on Monday! http://theanchoressonline.com/2005/12/01/happy-trails/trackback/ 6 Responses to “Happy Trails!” |
