This is the strangest thing I’ve ever heard of.
Kim at Musing Minds says Betsy Newmark’s blogpage has gone missing!
Blogger’s been having some problems and somebody named Sam has stolen Betsy’s URL. There is a page there called Betsy Page with one post that doesn’t say anything and two comments, one spam and one from Betsy herself.
There were two posts earlier, but one is now gone.
UPDATE: Now Fausta’s blog is inaccessible.
Weird. I tried getting to the page via a link in this post but no go.
We cannot do without Betsy Newmark! BRING BACK BETSY!
UPDATE: Betsy wrote to Glenn Reynolds and tells the story here and Doug has tried to help out by google caching as much of her stuff as he could and posting it here. Good thinking!

I noticed the same thing two days ago and yesterday. I went to her husband’s blog, Newmark’s Door, and he wrote,
“Attention to all the people e-mailing, telegraphing, telephoning, and otherwise inquiring what has happened to my wife’s blog, Betsy’s Page: it’s down because of a problem with her hosting service, Blogger (now owned by Google and not being run all that well).
She will resume blogging just as soon as she is technically able.”
It’s definitely never good to have one of your favorite bloggers unavailable, though.

Over the last two days I’ve noticed that Betsy’s Page has not been available. Musing Minds and The Anchoress (her site is down temporarily, too) have noticed the same thing. I visited Betsy’s husband’s blog, Newmark’s Door, to see if

I was on Blogger for about a month when I first started blogging. I realized very soon, how unreliable it was. Also, as somewhat of a control freak, I didn’t like the idea of all my hard work being hosted on an account I couldn’t back up. I also wanted a little more control over the templating, so I went to an account I control and use the phpwebsite CMS.
Why anyone would host their blog on blogger, especially if they are popular and are making money from it is beyond me.
