End of Night Round Up

I have all these open tabs of stories/blogposts I meant to get to today - yes, of course they’re all must-reads - so let’s get to it!

Start here, with Sensible Mom who has some strong ideas and good questions for all of us: The last two lines of P. J. O’Rourke’s book Parliament of Whores are “Every government is a parliament of whores. The trouble is, in a democracy the whores are us.” Meaning, we get what we choose.

How many times have you turned a contractor away after he arrived at your home with illegal immigrants to start the job? How many times have you refused to frequent a restaurant when you realized the busboys couldn’t speak English? Did you even notice most times? Have you refused to stay in hotels that employ illegal immigrants as maids? Did you complain to your local McDonald’s, or do you still visit it because it’s convenient?

How many presidents have gotten off the hook for not enforcing our immigration and employment laws because we Americans had different priorities? Well, that attitude has come back to bite us in the butt.

Hello, you’ll want to read the whole thing. This is everyone’s fault, absolutely.

Maxed Out Mama: Talks cultural racism: Examples of these norms include defining white skin tones as nude or flesh colored, having a future time orientation, emphasizing individualism as opposed to a more collective ideology, defining one form of English as standard, and identifying only Whites as great writers or composers. Your education tax dollars at work. This PC crap has got to stop. I say put it on the list, right after we get the immigration thing taken care of.

Fausta is watchin’ tv!

Kobayashi Maru: This is a priceless piece on the Democrats who want to save the rats. Really, you must read it. You’ll laugh. Then you’ll think about it and you’ll want to cry.

AJ Strata is having his first blogoversary!

Siggy is throwing Part I punches and promises (or threatens) more. Funny and dead serious.

Melanie Phillips: This brill lady gives us the heads up on how out of control things are in the UK. You know, the UK…where President Clinton recently said everything is “so much better than in America” (paraphrased).

Instapunk: He says the MSM is winning and he may be correct. They’re huge, they’re organized, and they do not deviate from their agenda to fight amongst themselves like - ummm - some political parties and blog-posters.

Kitty Litter: Are you part of the problem? Well, are you?

Democracy Project gives you a heads up re Lorie Byrd and DJ. Speaking of Lorie, if you haven’t read her latest at Townhall, you should.

Dr Helen and Bettnet both talking about Helicopter Parents. I guess they go with the Indigo Children, or something. When will the boomers stop, just stop trying to control everything?

AJ is thinking that things are getting a little peacable re conservatives and the illegals situation. Maybe. I can see my emailers have calmed down a little, so maybe he’s right.

John Murtha is opening a reckless mouth again. The Marines are already investigating. Frank Martin has some frank words that you’ll want to read. Laura Lee is spitting mad (I like her!) Meanwhile Missouri honors a Marine. Flopping Aces, a former marine writes about honor.

Watcher of Weasles: has some exceptionally fine writing on display this week, and I’m not just saying that.

Anchoress, maybe you might agree with me here?
Immigration and “pc crap” are close-related issues. I wish the latter had come up first; solving that would have gone a long way to make the former a no-brainer
The reason why America could absorb all those immigrants in the 19th-early 20th century is because she had the self-confidence in her history, her way of life, her values, her rightness, to turn all those teeming masses into 100% true Americans. It was what you might call the Miracle of Ellis Island. All those foreigners with those funny names were instantly born again with names like Woodrow Wilson Kzianowski, George Washington Minelli, Abraham Lincoln Plotznik.
Then they went to school and learned things like, that next to the Birth of Christ, the happiest day in the history of mankind was July 4th 1776; that the Declaration of Indendepence is the greatest creation ever to come from the mind of man; that Washington was greatest man who ever lived, Lincoln too; that the Almighty has taken this Republic under His especial favor; that to grow up and be President of the United States someday is the highest honor on earth, higher than any throne or crown. And so on, and so on… silly stories, conceited stories no doubt, but it’s out of such that you put a nation together.

And if there isn’t one already, I vote that there be a statue in Washington DC to the old school marms who did it.

You can see for yourself what we have today. PC crappers can’t turn even Americans into Americans, how can they the immigrants? Well, they won’t. We both know it.

So for me, where I’m coming down is that we must put our own house in order before we accept more people. And that means dealing with PC, root and branch.

    THank you Anchoress!
It’s an honor to be included in a great round-up.

I shall be nice and professional:

    Screw Murtha.

Of course, we rehabilitated Dick ‘Nazi’ Durban, too,
