Around the ’sphere in 16 links - UPDATED

The Mayor of Tal Afar goes to Fort Carson to thank the US 3rd Armored Calvery. I’m sure you saw it on all the news shows last night, right? The video is very moving.

Ed Morrissey has news about the new Iraqi government and Gateway has a celebratory post with great pictures. You didn’t see that on the news, either? Hmmm…Imagine that! Meanwhile, Dr. Sanity has some accurate information coming out of Iraq.

If you’re feeling confused about whether or not Jews and Christians are going to be wearing targets in Iran, you’ll want to head over to Alexandra’s site - she has non-stop updates and excellent thoughts and commentary. Am I the only one who thinks, “of course they are…or they were planning to…” UPDATE: Alexandra has updated here quoting Amir Taheri:

Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians, who will have to adopt distinct color schemes to make them identifiable in public. The new codes would enable Muslims to instantly recognize non-Muslims so that they can avoid shaking hands with them by mistake, and thus becoming najis” (unclean).

Uh-huh. You’ll want to read the whole thing.

And umm…those tolerant, compassionate types once again prove they don’t really grasp a basic tenant of classical liberalism: you don’t make racist jokes about others. I have a feeling they’re not really liberals, don’t you? Maybe it’s time for some of us “dangerous moderate” conservatives to take that word back.

Bernard wonders whatever happened to True North. It makes me think I’ll soon write about diabolical disorientation, and the difficulties inherent in navigating a world off-kilter. It’s too easy to sit here and say “north is north,” when you’re not the one steering the vessel.

Speaking of Off-Kilter, they’re one of Buster’s favorite bands.

Continuing in an “off-kilter” vein, Called as Seen wonders if Bush, not the base, should feel abandoned.

Does anyone remember my friend who had the naughty dream about Rush Limbaugh?. A reader points out that the post ends with a link about Conservative Fatigue…way back in September of last year. Just thought I’d pass that on. Whatever.

I’m sorry but the lovely good-natured Romanian boy was still the first and best #1 Numa Fan. These girls are a sad devolution of a great internet video. They scare me.

I haven’t watched Letterman
in years, and according to Lorie, I haven’t missed much.

DJ Drummond is continuing his multi-part breakdown of Bush’s latest speech. He reminds us that Bush’s immigration stand was known as early as 2000, and that the president is being consistant.

Some Sacred Feminine, anyone?
not my cuppa - I call it liturgy to gag by.

As I am not entirely sure what Joe Marshall is about, here I will refrain from commenting. Because I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer I am going to assume that he is NOT basically presuming to know about me, my spirituality and how much introspection, openness to humility or willingness to “ride the razor” I bring to it.
