August 11, 2006“None of this would happen if Bush hadn’t invaded Iraq”Riggggght. Some background. With Pictures, if words are too much for you. Because before we went into Iraq, there were no terrorist attacks anywhere. Ummm…right? East Timor 1999 It looks to me like in the 1990’s we were seeing an attack (on specifically American holdings, interests or vessels) Then…Remember this? But - Let’s not forget the 1985 hijacking of the Achille Lauro, Let’s not forget the 1983 Bombing of American troops, in their barracks, in Beirut. Let’s not forget the taking of American hostages, in 1979, held for 444 days. Let’s not forget the Munich Massacre of 1972. Let’s not forget The Bojinka Operation of 1995. Did President Bush’s “moronic policies” do all of that stuff? Oh, wait…we’re not seeing attacks every 18 months, anymore - are we? In fact, it looks like President Bush’s terrible policies helped foil this latest attempt, despite the

[...] Our many freedoms stand solely on our ability to maintain our national security. It’s as simple as that. And Britain, despite a small difference of opinion around 230 years ago, remains our staunchest ally. The Anchoress has a superb roundup of facts past and present, along with some scolding words for those that DON’t GET IT. I know that, for me, there is a temptation to be angry at Muslims in general over this, and I want to point one thing out … to myself, and to any other readers struggling with anger …
… there are Muslim heroes in this story as well as villains.
Yes, the authorities stopped a bomb plot by violent murderers, but how does anyone think they tumbled to the plot in the first place?
It wasn’t a crystal ball. I strongly doubt government psychics (if they exist) could scrye their own buttocks. No, this plot was broken because of “information received” — i.e., some Muslim person got upset and tipped the authorities.
The war against terror is primarily a war of intelligence … and intelligence primarily comes from Muslims who have very strong views on the world, but won’t stand for murder. These people are heroes. Unsung and unknown heroes, naturally, whose reward will mostly be to be lumped in with thugs and terrorist and treated with scorn by the outside world, and hated as traitors by the extremists. But the war on terror can’t be won without them.
So if one sees a Muslim in the street, don’t just think of bomb-throwing maniacs. Think also of quiet, civilized people who help protect you from those self-same bomb-throwing maniacs.
Respectfully,
Brian P.

Good comment, Brian…probably better posted in the Hyperventilation thread. ;-) The Long URL was upsetting things so I linked to it in the post above.

We must first seek to understand
Understand what? Well, that calling terrorists Islamo-fascists is offensive to some. That we should ignore the evidence. That in reality, Hezbollah is more Christian than many Christians. That, in fact, Christians in America, as individuals and as a na…

Every Bad Thing In The World Is Not A Result Of Iraq
The Anchoress has a brilliant message, in pictures, for those who think the most recent attempted terror attack, or any of the successful past terror attacks were in response to anything George Bush has done, in Iraq or elsewhere….

Why Do They Hate Us?
Why should we trust liberals to lead this nation if they can’t answer these questions themselves some 5 years after 9/11? This is the question they don’t want you to ask. But it is also the question that needs to be posed to those who feel they hav…

I linked to this post from Daily KOS - the idiot’s guide to Terrorism
I don’t want to take anything away from Muslim informants, but take this perspective: in prison there are rapists, murderers and other vile creatures who would also turn a fellow inmate in for various reasons. The information is appreciated, but in no way are they heroes. They are scum that happened to inform on someone. No more - no less.

Hello dear Anchoress

The Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina; was blown up in a big explosion in 1994. Add this one to the list too.
Of course, the terrorists were Muslims.
God bless you all

More on the #1 issue facing the world…

[...] The ugly truth no one wants to admit, particularly within the left, is that this enemy is going to keep coming and coming at us…when we take one out, another will -for a while yet - be able to step up into his place. When we foil one ring, another will be just about ready to attack. While we’re cleaning out one rat’s nest, three more are being formed. That is why this is going to be a decades-long effort, no matter WHO gets into the WH in a few years, and no matter how much some would like to pretend that all of this is simply George W. Bush’s doing, because - you know - terrorism never existed before he got into office, or before he went to Iraq. [...]

[...] Once there was a perpetually warring Middle East burning the Great Satan in effigy, holding Americans hostage, training terrorists to kill and maim the infidel, blowing up trains, vacation resorts and skyscrapers and swaggering about declaring “the disappearance of Israel and America.” If we hold fast through difficult times, perhaps we will be able to say “These things are no more…” but first we have to be willing to deal with the difficulty. President Bush made it clear that the War on Terror - meaning the defeat of the whole idea of terrorism as a means-of-movement and persuasion - was going to be a “long, hard slog…” [...]
January 12th, 2007 at 2:47 pm
[...] We we have to come together about this war and figure out what happens if we surrender, and what happens if we win. Because all of this does not “go away” in two years when Bush leaves office. Islamofascist terrorism was already business-as-usual before Bush came into office. It will be there when he leaves, and for a very, very long time after, unless we hold fast now, and see this thing through. [...]
