September 26, 2006Olbermann and the monkeyApparently Keith Olbermann called Chris Wallace “a monkey impersonating a journalist” or something, because of the Clinton interview this weekend. I’m not following it. This whole scene is descending into farce and sandbox fighting. Soon we’ll be seeing cartoons of Hillary and Condi catfighting, with Monica as referee and everyone hyperventilating about Bill Clinton (he has to love that) and no one remembering that no one - NO ONE - did enough about fighting terrorism (for some 30 years) before 9/11. But I digress…I read about this Olbermann “monkey” snit and thought…”Since when is Olbermann the arbiter of what constitutes a “real” journalist?” He was a sportscaster (and a pretty funny one, I must admit) before his MSNBC gig. Now he, like Frank Rich (former theater critic), is ever so much more - simply be dint of declaring it to be so. Anyway, what I thought was funny, was Olbermann’s haughty pronouncment on Wallace…right after this nauseating “professional journalist” performance of Olbermann’s wherein he ummmm…talks to Bill Clinton the way I might talk to Jesus. Or, you know…Bryn! (But then again, I don’t consider myself a journalist…and I’ve never called anyone a monkey!) He’s a real journalist, you see, and he’s interested in asking the tough questions, getting to the bottom of things and daring to…to…oh, forget it, there he goes, under the desk again! Watch the video, it’s priceless. Chris Wallace may or may not be a monkey; I don’t really care - I despise Fox News as profoundly as I despise pretty much all broadcast news. But if he is, then the concubine-esque Olbermann is rather begging for a characterization of his own. http://theanchoressonline.com/2006/09/26/olbermann-and-the-monkey/trackback/ 6 Responses to “Olbermann and the monkey” |

I am suprised to read that you despise Fox News. I am grateful for Fox News. It offers a chance to hear a conservative viewpoint, unlike most of the MSM. It also provides the opinions of the liberal persuasion…which I can hear all the time on the other networks and print media. You won’t find most of the MSM putting on someone for the conservative point of view. Brit Hume is one of the very best in my opinion.

Brit Hume?
Wonderful, professional.
Chris Wallace?
Learned a lot from his dad.
Shep Smith?
Well, two out of three ain’t bad.

Denise, I find pretty much all broadcast news to be more than I can bear. I wrote about it at length here.

Brit Hume is the best in the business. Period. His is the only show I watch. I have no loyalty to the rest of the Fox lineup, but must say on the rare occasions that I surf by MSNBC or CNN, I am positively appalled by the unhinged ranting. I tried to take Dean Barnett’s recent challenge and watch a 10 minute clip of Keith Oberman (Sp?) but couldn’t get beyond about 90 seconds. What a nuttter. Even shep looks good in comparison

Keith Olbermann - Useful Idiot
I know. You’re saying, “Yeah, tell us something we didn’t know.” Ah, but wait. You haven’t seen Keith’s latest nearly 11-minute diatribe from his Countdown show. PLEASE watch the video. To put it simply, it’…

It is quite clear to me.
Keith Olbermann is angling to be Hillary Clinton’s press secretary.
Of course, as you note, he was a sportcaster. He’s towing the party line because the prospect of becoming a press secretary is one illusion he wants to buy into.
The Dems and the Clinton’s will turn Olbermann into shark chum when he is no longer useful
