While the world has been focused on John Kerry (and now Hillary), some important stories are falling by the wayside, and that’s a shame.
Fer instance, Michael Steele - who has run an upbeat and honorable campaign in a mean season, got a huge endorsement the other day from the black leadership in Maryland. The traditionally Democrat leadership. They’re crossing party lines to support him. Big story. Huge. Good for Steele! I really hope he pulls off a victory in Maryland; he’s earned it.
Fer instance, Hillary, whom I had been grudgingly respecting for holding firm on Iraq has begun to shift to “redeployment” mode, and she did it just as Hezbollah was saying, “heh, this is good; Iraq is another Vietnam for America! Good timing, Hill. Hillary also called for a more internationalist foreign policy, but that doesn’t seem to have been reported by the US Press.
Fer instance there is some massive voter fraud already at work and while it’s good to see this discovered, it should make you uneasy about this election and the next. Personally, I’m very worried about voter fraud next week. Thirty-five THOUSAND questionable registration forms and ACORN says it may “just be an honest mistake?” Uh-huh. Do RICO laws apply here? Anyone know? (H/T Larwyn) And btw, this is not an isolated problem. And fraud can take many shapes.
Fer instance, the NY Times is spilling classified stuff again. But more sneaky-like. Oh, and the Times is also playin’ with polls.
Fer instance, The US is warning that “there is “mounting evidence” that Syria, Iran and Hezbollah are planning to topple the Lebanese government.” That’s a pretty big story!
Fer instance, Limbaugh interviewed President Bush today. I didn’t hear it, but the transcript is here
Fer instance: John Kerry and/or his reps approached grieving military families - at wakes and funerals - to ask them to help his 2004 campaign? If that’s true…that’s disgusting.
Fer instance, it’s been seven years since Flight 990 fell out of the sky, and some of the people affected are still hurting. Tracy writes a very affecting piece that will move you.
More later - have a doc’s appointment!

you tell this doctor to get you ship shape right now…
by the way, listened to this fine President on the EIB program, and he remains strong, impressive, decent.
Very thankful for him and hope many turn out to support his efforts in the GWOT, by voting to rebuke the Democrat folly…

Thanks for giving Beyond the Pale a nod. She is such a terrific writer and that piece, a long time in the works, is very powerful.

[...] Right before Halloween, before John Kerry single-handedly sucked all the oxygen out of the Northern Hemisphere, The Anchoress wrote about a Joel Stein article that has really stayed with me. In his article, Stein describes Christianity as a “death cult.” He admits up front in the article that he himself has limited experience or knowledge of Christianity - so of course, in the warped and snarky mindset of Modern Journalism, that makes him an expert! That aside, The Anchoress proceeds to unravel his lame and unfocused article to the point that we see what Stein really is….a little boy. During that journey, we read His column has some Christians fuming and feeling insulted, but I read it and thought the piece was by turns sad, mildly amusing, childish, self-deprecating and - ultimately - sad, again. I am also sad to see the Christians so quick to carry on about wounded sensibilities, so quick to jump on the victimology train that has so been careening so destructively through our nation for the past 20-or-so years. If anyone should be able to “take” Stein’s column, it should be the Christian. [...]
