Bring him to me!
I don’t care that he’s married! I don’t care that I’m married! He can even bring along the marvellous Marcelo (my favorite tenor) too - he’s a cute little guy; I’ll make him coffee!
This freaking duet kills me, everytime!
I’m a little overcaffeinated just now and really need to get back to work on my book, but this distraaaaacted meeeee.
Bring me Bryn Terfel, damn your eyes!
Help.
UPDATE: A writer friend tells me that all of this avoidance behavior just means that I am a real writer - that a real writer will do anything to keep from writing. Okay, well…duh, yes, I am a real writer. And perhaps this is simply avoidance behavior. But listen, if any of you want to tell me you have seen Bryn in performance, met Bryn, dined with Bryn, flown in first-class with Bryn, or gone to the same damn tailor as Bryn…don’t do it…you will only make me weep. And if you’re disgusting like Siggy, you may raise my ire. Which is never a good thing!
And besides…this freaking deadline is looming. I thought I’d spend twelve hours on it today…I’ve barely broken 12 minutes.

I once used the same men’s room facility as the great Terfel.
That too, was a moving experience.

:::narrowing eyes:::
Beware, I cut you, Siggy! You might have committed a banning offense!
November 16th, 2006 at 5:54 pm
ROFLOL!
Best un-Brynlove line to date! Surely you can’t ban the guy after that.
November 16th, 2006 at 5:56 pm
and only Siggy could get away with it!
November 16th, 2006 at 6:05 pm
ROFLOL!
And, boy, do I understand about avoidance behavior.

Now, if we could have the concert announcer pronounce Alvarez as AL-va-rez instead of al-VA-rez . . .

[...] And I thought I was Queen of Procrastination! Now she’s putting out an urgent plea to find some opera singer about whom I know nothing named Bryn Terfel, which has nothing to do with what she’s supposed to be doing! HA! (Hopefully there won’t be any fucking assholes sending hate-mail to her for talking about opera this time!) [...]

hehehehehe…
and you don’t understand the Elvis thing?
so fun…

Oh, I know the avoidance thing so well. Tomorrow I have about 5 hours of rehearsing with voice students, followed by 2 hour voice masterclass to accompany, followed by a recording session with a clarinet player, and I haven’t even looked at his music today. I’m sitting here at the computer reading about Bryn and looking at the cake recipe. Still think I’ll make pumpkin bread pudding with caramel sauce for Thanksgiving Day, but the cake looks good, too.
BTW, I saw Elvis in person when I was 12 years old!

Wow. Then I qualify not only as a real writer, but as a GREAT writer! And all because of procrastination and avoidance behavior. Who knew?
November 17th, 2006 at 9:19 am
I completely undertand, A, because you have passed your Bryn mania on to me via the Internet - perhaps one of the few computer viruses that CAN be passed along! I now own some 10 Bryn CDs and counting! In all seriousness, I owned NONE just a few short months ago!
Bryn is like eating peanuts - you can’t stop with just one! And unlike peanuts, he isn’t fattening! Just gorgeous.
Now get back to work.

*Sigh* Thanks, I needed that!

Thanks for bringing up that Welchman Opera Singer, BRYN TERFEL.
November 18th, 2006 at 3:40 pm
Greetings Anchoress,
Thanks for ‘mentioning’ BRYN TERFEL.
You reminded me that I have one of his recital CD’s in my classical library that I never listened to. Been busy listening to Allesandra Marc sing Wagner & a bunch of Sebilius Symphonies. Your ‘appreciation’ of Bryn’s magnificent, passionate, lryical, beautiful artistry brought to mind the several times I’ve heard him on FM in various operas & recitals. Immediately after this comment, I’m going to dig through my collection, find that CD & spent the next hour listening to Mr. terfel on this very ‘puter. TUVM.
BethC doesn’t seem to have much appreciation for great vocal artists like Bryn. Maybe you could find a Welch folksong or crossover that she would enjoy so she could appreciate your ‘admiration & enjoyment’ of Mr. Terfel & his artistry.
Am ‘visiting’ you more frequently. I’ts exciting to find someone in the VRWC world that loves classical music.
Have you heard of that up & coming Estonian conductor babe, Anu Tali.
Keep on writing!!!!!!
CHEERS, LANCE
