I hope everyone clicking in here has the opportunity to spend some part of Thursday with people they love, and for those who cannot - whether duty-bound or otherwise - you’re being thought of and prayed for today, too.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and many thanks to the Anchoress for posting this wonderful picture of an AUTHENTIC man, one who graces and honors the presidency in a way not done by Carter or Clinton!
Read Dick Meyer’s excellent article and enjoyed it so much, I printed it up for posterity and my own enjoyment in a subsequent re-read.
And thanks for the recipes.

Okay Anchoress - I’m going to share with you a Thanksgiving story of mine that I have rarely told anyone.
My late mother was Hungarian and VERY proud of it. This set the scene.
One Thanksgiving when I was an incautious teenaged brat (as we all were at one time or another), I asked her how to make an Hungarian Thanksgiving dinner.
She said she had not idea.
So I told her: “First you steal the turkey!”
She slapped me.
I deserved it.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

We have many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: Family, friends, and Justin Morneau winning the AL MVP.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
I am doing a cornbread, sausage and chestnut stuffing. I live out west where chestnuts did not get the blight. There is a tree that I collect them from that is probably hybrid American-European. They are small and sweet, which is an American trait, but the tree looks like a hybrid. I mix in chopped fennel with the celery too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Anchoress. Speaking as one of the biggest and most well roasted turkeys you will ever see, it has always been a pleasure to grace your verbal table.
