January 16, 2007Linking around - Chastity, Berger, UFO’s and moreWhile I’m still nose-to-the-grindstone trying to finish by Saturday something due on Thursday…egad…thought I’d throw some interesting reading your way. Another big lie gets addressed: Dawn Eden, author of The Thrill of the Chaste: Finding Fulfillment While Keeping Your Clothes On published a piece in the UK on one of the big lies served up by feminism (another lie, of course, was it’s not a baby, it’s just tissue.) Her essay: Casual sex is a con; Women just aren’t like men. A good read. One of these days I’m going to really sit down and write my thoughts on the subject, too. As soon as this project is done… Speaking of big lies: To me it is stunning and more than a little frightening that the press has zero curiosity as to what was in Sandy Berger’s pants. I mean, isn’t a story like this supposed to be red meat for these champions of “the people’s right to know”? Why, when the press was not satisfied with the volumes of pages submitted by the Bush campaign on the president’s TANG service, are they utterly satisfied with Clintonista, “nah, he didn’t take anything original, and this is just Sandy being Sandy” excuses (and a former president doing his uh-huh-huh chuckle, “oh, that’s just like Sandy, he always was sloppy,”). The press heard all that and tilted their head like overindulgent parents of a mop-topped toddler, sighed and said, “awwwwww…how cute.” Then they went back to screaming at those terrible usurping step-children, the Bushies, about…oh…Valerie Plame being outted by defendant-of-the-day Scooter Libby…um…I mean Richard Armitage (who never even consulted a lawyer about his outting her, btw, and will never need to, because he’s on the “right” side). But Sandy Berger, “uh-huh-huh, that’s just old Sandy…stuffing classified documents in his drawers, ‘losing or inadvertantly’ destroying others, folding some of ‘em up and dropping them under a trailer at a construction site in the dead of night…uh-huh-huh, we love Sandy.” Makes me want to puke, really. Another story that is completely disinteresting to the press: American Somoan Tuna Canneries pay less than minimum wage and Nancy Pelosi does not care. Apparently if they raise the wages, it will cost people jobs, or cut into profits or something. Imagine that! What a theory! Did you guys know that Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican? I never knew it. Did you know that if you strangle your sister in an honor killing it’s okay, you can get away with it as long as you do not strangle another sister for three years. Gosh…I kicked my brother once and had to go to confession, dust the whole house and miss tv for a week. But I guess, you know, different cultures, and all that. It sucks that President Bush has been trying to free women from their cultural norms, like that. Maybe he should let Sandy Berger talk to these people. Everyone loves good ol’ Sandy. Maybe Sandy could talk to the Saud’s out of banning the letter X, because it looks too much like a Christian cross while he’s at it. Lots of sand in Saudi Arabia…a good place to hide stuff and bury things. Dave Justus says he still things Iraq will work, but even if it can’t work, we needed to try. I’m with him on that. And if democracy cannot work in the Middle East we need to know that, too, so we can be clear about what we’re up against in the future. Captain Ed tells the bad news we all expected: The Dems are moving apace to thwart free speech where they can. Tell Tim Robbins that I can finally feel that chill wind he was ranting and writing plays about four years ago…and the Dems managed to rouse it in less than 100 hours! Also from Ed, a fascinating look at a time in recent history where, having no one to surrender to, France offered itself to England for full absorption. Kind of makes you think France will be more than happy to simply go belly-up and become France-Arabe So, what’s the story with the “UFO’s” in Iran? Can we get some coverage? Hello, press, aren’t you curious about anything besides the Golden Globes? http://theanchoressonline.com/2007/01/16/linking-around/trackback/ 7 Responses to “Linking around - Chastity, Berger, UFO’s and more” |

Did your local TV stations cover the Dems taking off their first Monday in power for the Ohio State/Florida Gators game? Mine (in Chicago) didn’t. All the news that fits, they print. Fits the template, of course. Shame on them all.
