Sometimes you can’t get a tune out of your head, as is the case with me and this glorious little trio by Mozart, Soave Sia Il Vento from the wonderful (if oddly wrought in this video) Cosi fan tutte.
They sing the song we all pray when we separate from our kids and loved ones: Gentle be the breeze,
calm be the waves,
and every element
smile in favor
on our wishes
Unfortunately, youtube does not have a better-sung version online - lots of worse-sung tries, (including this amusingly deplorable attempt).
If you go over to Amazon and check out Bryn’s Tutto Mozart, they have a very generous full minute of Soave being sung gloriously by Bryn with Miah Persson and Christine Rice in their samples - look for piece #3 - which is slightly uptempo from the youtube clip.
This is the stuff to heal the soul after a day’s buffeting in the winds of an uncertain era.
RightWing Professor is thinking along the same lines and brings you a tremendous assortment of great moments in opera. Including my beloved Dame Joan Sutherland.

We’re on the same page. I just published a compilation of great operatic clips here, including a Tito Gobbi clip from 1946!

I am awakening daily to the first track on that CD of Bryn’s! I love a clock radio with a CD player in it.
