Does Bill want Hill to lose? UPDATED

UPDATE: January 5, 2008: Joe Gandelman is beginning to wonder, as well. Original post below.

Looks like I picked the wrong day to…cut back reading about politics.

In the strangest twist I’ve seen in ages, people from both the left and the right are wondering if Hill wants to do away with her hubby…albeit for different reasons. And a UK paper is picking up on it. It’s goofy, meaningless chatter and venting, of course. Forums are good for that.

Commentators have suggested there is growing panic inside Mrs Clinton’s campaign that she could be beaten by Mr Obama when Iowa votes on 3 January. “I’m hearing that Hillary is ready to kill Bill,” wrote the influential political blogger Arianna Huffington. “But it has nothing to do with his roving eye.”

I think there are some out there who question whether or not Bill Clinton really wants Hillary to “have her turn” in the White House, who wonder whether he wants to risk his presidency being overshadowed by his wife’s.

Mrs. Clinton, as the “first woman president” would also be a “wartime” president. If she is elected to the Oval Office, her presidency would immediately be more historically compelling and relevant than Mr. Clinton’s ever could be. And, as someone said recently - I can’t remember where I heard it, probably talk radio - if Hillary, as CIC, takes action in the war on terror, particularly if she does so in response to provocation, everything she does may well be measured against all of the provocations to which Bill did not clearly respond in the 1990’s.

Possibly President Clinton’s weird “misspeaks are designed to do more harm than good for his wife. I can’t say for sure - maybe on some sub-conscious level it’s true. Clinton has always had something of a self-destructive streak in him; it’s part of what makes him human and compelling and - for some - endlessly fascinating.

I don’t think Hillary plans on allowing anyone to destroy her, however, and though she is campaigning stupidly (and, um, a little classlessly) right now, I don’t think she’s a “self-destructor,” either. But things are certainly interesting over there.

I really don’t mean to keep writing about Hillary Clinton - I really want to start thinking about Advent more

Oh, yes, please! Enough, ENOUGH, E-N-O-U-G-H!!!! with Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton. Won’t they please just go away now??? Please! Go! Now!

And it seems that the rest of the political world is (FINALLY) starting to catch on, finally getting this sick feeling in their stomachs at the prospect of years and years more of the Clintons — and we are still nearly a year away from the election. They are starting to wise up before it is too late and she sows up the nomination and then they are stuck with her. Yes, Clinton fatigue and disgust and weariness is setting in, and the idea of another year (or more) of the Clinton crime family is starting to turn the stomachs of even the Dems.

Indeed, I’ve long suspected that no one really likes the Clintons — no one — not even themselves, as is the case with all narcissists. But as long as they could frustrate and defeat Republicans, the Dems would go along with sleezy Clintonism and would fool themselves into thinking that they liked them. And because their dislike of Republicans is their greatest passion, they especially would not be caught dead actually agreeing with Republicans publicly in finding Hillary and Bill to be slimy, even though that is what they too thought deep down.

Besides, Bill does not really want to go back to the White House. Sure, power is intoxicating, but he has power and influence and money and all the girl-toys he wants now, and if he was to go back to the White House, he would have to finally grow up and put his pants on. He knows that he is having a lot more fun now than he ever could back in the White House.

I do feel some are giving the Clintons far too much credit.

Bill is a liar, and when he speaks, he is bound to lie.

    Same with Mrs. Clinton…

William J. Clinton loves attention, as he is a truly an egotist, wrapped around some intense insecurity-failings.

More likely, he would enjoy the idea of being able to reside in the White House, being the center of attention, with numerous Photo Ops.

His ego would probably always make certain he, and everyone around him knew that he was the reason for Hillary’s Presidency.

In fact, the reelection of Bill and Hillary, would probably be interpreted in Bill’s mind as a reaffirmation of Bill’s Presidency.

Just as the rejection of his Wife for President would be as well…

Bill Clinton probably adjusts nearly everything to be interpreted by himself for his own acclaim.

The pattern seems clear throughout his life, and he adopted a dishonest denial to cope, survive, and prosper.

If HIllary is blaming her husband for sinking in the Race, it is just another sign of her own blindness.

Long ago, even some of the biggest names in ‘Conserva-dom’ accepted the Clintons as being so brilliant.

But how did the greatest Politician we are supposed to have had in our era, get himself impeached by the House?

How is it that Hillary Clinton couldn’t answer a simple question about Drivers Licenses?

Why did they both, the Clintons, make it their policy to lie about the genocide in Rwanda?

The Clinton brilliance actually ignored the growing threat of Islamic Radical Militancy throughout the 90’s,
even after it attacked the WTC in 1993…

The biggest threat to the Free World, and the Clintons missed it entirely, actually enabling the threat to the Free World.

Instead they chose to build Gorelick Walls, appease killers like Arafat, and play around with interns…

Provocative post, Anchoress. And food for thought - lots of thought.

William Jefferson Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been and - if we permit it - will continue to be the worst thing that has happened to this country in decades (except, of course, for the EGREGIOUS disaster named James Earl Carter, Jr.).

I don’t know if BILL wants Herself to fail in her quest for the White House. What I do know is that I WANT HER TO FAIL! For the good of our nation.

  5. jrprimm Says:

Do not be downhearted about writing about the Clintons during Advent, dear Anchoress. It is a truism that often does our Father bring us challenges such as the two of them–and all their baggage–at the most holy of times. Perhaps He wants us to choose between despair and joy…I do my best to choose Joy and I know you do as well. Advent still surrounds us and sweeps us on…

A personal aside here if you don’t mind. Have you ever heard of the concept that Bill is “passive evil” and Hill is “active evil”? I was discussing them with a Roman trained theologian back in 1992 prior to the election…yes, we determined Bill would be the nominee and beat GHWB, believe it or not…and my theologian friend postulated that concept and said that Bill was just along for the ride while Hill drove the chariot. Any thoughts on that?

Keep up your good work, many are praying for you!

  9. Iceworm Says:

Hmm … Interesting but speculative. I guess what mystifies me is why anyone thought that Hillary! was even a moderately good campaigner to start with. I observed her first/only campaign and noted that she was polling 55% at the start and that that is where she ended. She had star power, the MSM backing her all the way, no intra-party opposition, got to fly around on gov’t aircraft, gobs and gobs of executive experience and still never managed to improve her lead. To be sure, she didn’t lose it either but you would think that the World’s Smartest Woman (maybe even Human) would have done better against an obscure local. Now that she is being forced out of her cocoon, the metamorphosis into a real politician is proving to be difficult and painful.
