Young people embracing traditional vocations

A Swiss-German Benedictine House

The Benedictine Abbey of St. Walburga welcomes two new postulants who entered on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. One of them is kept a blog.

I am always impressed with young men and women who choose to enter a cloister at Christmastime, when it must be especially difficult to be apart from family.

Meanwhile young men are helping this Carmelite Monastery to grow rather quickly. They are, I believe, the only male Carmelite cloister in the US, and deeply traditional. One of our regular readers has a nephew there, and she says he loves the life. Their chant sounds wonderful and apparently they’re releasing a recording. Great video here.

The Benedictine monks of Clear Creek Monastery are continuing instant in prayer while they build and grow.

The fledgling community of Poor Clares at Our Lady of Solitude, in Arizona are making beautiful plans.

These Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration in Portsmouth Ohio look like a fun bunch of gals who hope to grow.

Suddenly, here in America, beautiful monasteries are popping up. And they’re being supported and getting filled. The Dominican nuns at Summit, NJ are expecting two more postulants very soon. And these gals are growing after a lean time, as well. All this prayer can only be a good thing!

Some active orders are doing well, too. They’re also building and growing.

If all this inspires you to pray vespers, here you go.
