Fausta is looking for people to go over to her comments section and answer the question: is Hitchens right when he says

“For most men, if they can’t make women laugh, they’re out of the evolutionary contest. They’ll never going to get laid… If you can’t make them laugh, you’ll never have a chance.”

I think he’s totally right. When you make someone laugh you help to take them outside themselves which helps them to appreciate you more.

I think that’s why comedians, no matter what they look like, usually have no trouble finding companions (okay…perhaps not Carrot Top or Pee Wee Herman, but I’m talking in the usual world) - even on the women’s side, Totie Fields had a very long and happy marriage, and Roseanne Barr managed to find men enough for several husbands.

We’d all like each other a lot more, I think, (and live longer) if we could make each other laugh a bit more, instead of pissing, moaning and sniping at each other all the livelong day.
