The blood count is in the pits again and I’m ordered to rest up a bit. Yes, a bore. I’ll have to get a laptop one of these days.
Meanwhile Kate and Kathy are the latest bloggers to be attacked in the war against free speech. Yes, a war. I’ve pitched in with a donation; if you can hit their paypal buttons and help them defray what look like looming lawyer bills, and a long fight (think of all the conservative-leaning bloggers who can be shut up by the fear of financial ruin!) do help them out.

Thanks so very much for bringing this to my attention. I did a little search and posted my own piece on what is going on. I’ll be writing a lot more on the subject later. You are correct in that this means war.

Hope you feel better soon. If you feel up to it, remember my friend SN and her family in your prayers. She’s been retired less than a month, and 2 days ago she lost her nephew and his little nephew in a car accident. The other nephew (the boy’s younger brother) is still in critical condition at the children’s hospital in ATL. The two young boy’s father is (or rather was) in Iraq and is now on his way home. So, so sad….

I am sorry you are not feeling well again. I will keep you in my thoughts and in my heart.
I have also really injured myself somehow…pulled a muscle or something. I am in excruciating pain as I am trying to get around just doing my every day duties as a mother and wife.

I sent it in to the Mark Levin show– folks might want to send it to their favorite talk shows, get a LOT of attention from the folks most likely to drop a fiver to help.

Anchoress. Mamaleh, do your job and rest up so that G-d can help your body knit itself up again. With the assistance of any available messenger angels in the form of doctors, medications, pharmacists, technicians, errand-runners, etc.
For what it’s worth, I also will be praying for your retored good health and an abundance of helpful “angels”.

Anchoress,
Laptops have gone down in price in the last year or so. You can get a really good Toshiba laptop, like the one that I have, for under $1000. I’ve seen some other brands starting at $600.
Get yourself better, Woman. We need you around.
Maybe I can tell you a little something happening around here. My poor sig.other had an accident on the job, about two weeks ago. He was inspecting a piece of equipment while on site as a surveyor, when it went haywire and… sliced clean the tip of his left thumb, almost down to the nail cuticle. The surgeon who attended him told him, point blanc, that there was no way that piece of thumb could be reattached. He was at home a whole week, on antibiotics and hydrocodone, and with a toddler who just wanted to be hugged by him the whole time. This week, he went to Houston for more training for his job, still trying to heal from that amputation. (Don’t worry: he’s being paid for it.)
I see my poor sig.other like that and I keep thinking, “How can he survive now with this?” On a follow-up visit, his surgeon told him ha can regain use of the thumb within a month, that he can hold on to stairs without a problem. (How?) His boss already hinted at him looking for another line of work, out of concern for the amputation. (In the maritime industry? How?) And then, there’s the effect on the Little Fig.
So, imagine. I’m home alone, up to my elbows in alligators, and totally blue. But again, it could be worse, for him and the rest of us here.
Ok. Here ends my rant.

Wow. Just…wow. And, yes, I can see it happening here.
BTW, you should look at Tablet PCs. DS#1 found one for me on the Internet and set up a wireless network so I can work in any room in the house and the yard. The keyboard detaches to become the cover or I can use a stylus to write with and it magically turns into text. Or not, depending on the program. The newer ones have touch screens and look like something on Stargate Atlantis. There are some drawbacks–the CD/DVD player is separate on the model I have and the volume on the speakers is poor, so I usually use a headset. But it rocks for portability!
