I couldn’t watch this poisonous hate - UPDATED

I tried, I really tried to watch this over-the-top rant by Keith Olbermann. I couldn’t do it. I kept thinking any second a fuse was going to pop out of the crown of his head and begin to sizzle and burn until his head exploded. Kaboom!

He opens his mouth and all I can hear is a guy completely owned by hate, and out of control with it.

I wonder if the irony is lost on Olbermann that this year he and his media co-horts (like Chris Matthews, David Schuster and others) have had to apologize (and in some cases face suspension) several times to the Clintons for their little slips of the tongue or thoughtless statements; Olbermann himself put out a floor-licking apology to the Clinton’s for Schuster’s “pimped out” remarks on Chelsea. Yet he offers these insipid rants with impunity almost every night, against the president, and he is still on the air. Nothing at all infringes upon his free speech - which is absolutely as it should be - but he would like the president to “shut up.”

I think Olbermann has misidentified who is out to either control him or shut him up, and who is trying to protect his foolish ass and his fundamental right to free speech.

People who have given free rein to their hatred are eventually consumed by it. Sometimes, once consumed, they become cathartic cartoons of that hate. The times are too serious for cartoons, cathartic or otherwise.

UPDATE: Had a further thought while waiting for a doc’s appt: I think Olbermann is going to miss Bush when he’s gone, for three reasons:

1) Once he starts kissing up to the Democrat president, people will cease to find him compelling or interesting.
2) He will have nowhere to direct all of his anger and hate
3) The next president - whoever that may be - may not be as respectful of Olbermann’s right to rant as this president has been.

But then again, I think they’ll be a lot of people missing Bush when he’s gone.

Didn’t watch the video, but judging from the transcript I half expect him to turn grey and wrinkly and start shooting lightning out of his fingertips.

The puzzle to me is that people who appear to be reasonably intelligent know first hand what he says or how he says it.

Why contribute to his Neilsen’s? If nobody watched him, he would go away.

Watched the video (I have a strong stomach) and all I can say is that not only is Olbermann consumed by unreasoning and baseless hatred, he isn’t very intelligent either! In fact, my cat is smarter than Keith!

Didn’t you know? He’s the new Edward R. Murrow… just ask him.

    Yeah, Olbermann’s a piece of @#&*

The problem is, it looks more and more and more as if McCain and other Republicans are going to use the Olbermann/MSNBC playbook and think that they can win in November by bashing Bush and blaming all the woes of the party and of the world on Bush.

Moreover, it is McCain, National Review, congressional Republicans and the like, by their own past and present Bush-bashing, which has legitimized BDS and given a green light to scum like Olbermann to spout off.

… the sky is blue, grass is green, water is wet and Keith Olbermann is a freakin’ idiot: The Countdown host was responding to comments the President made during an interview with Politco.com. When asked what was the worst that

  7. TheAnchoress Says:

That is true. There are a lot of conservatives out there who helped to weaken this president and validate Bush Derangement Syndrome by going way over the top about Harriet Miers and never fully pulling back from that ledge. I remember writing, two years ago to beware of that ledge.

But Don’t Question Their Patriotism: Keith Olbermann

There’s a lot one can say about the angry and unintelligent anti-American rants of Keith Olbermann. There is no one he hates more than President Bush (and that includes Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden), and he makes this known on a regular basis. Y…

Somewhere Osama bin Laden is giving Olbermann a standing ovation, and Iran’s unstable leader A’jad is wondering, “Hey, how did Keith get hold of my speech?”

    Hi, A-

I find it interesting you are planning to purchase C.S. Lewis & Narnia for Dummies because I’m planning to take my granddaughter to see Prince Caspian on Saturday.

We were discussing the books Thursday and talking about what the symbolism was all about. The Lion obviously represents Jesus. He was killed and rose again. He was also in the shadows protecting the characters.

The end of the stories is interesting. The older girl has abandoned Narnia and they have a train wreck. Not until the end when everyone is fighting a big battle between good and evil do we see the surviving children in a wonderful setting with their parents and the Lion, but not their older sister. It is then they realize they will never return to their old world because they are dead and in Heaven. Not so for the sister who rejected Narnia.

It’s the simple story of salvation, when you boil it all down.

I dunno, eric, it’s quite possible that OBL is way too occupied by his eternal “reward” to notice Olbermann.

On the other hand, perhaps part of what makes hell eternal damnation is that the TV’s there are tuned to MSNBC 24/7 for eternity? ;-)
