July 16, 2008The Obama-groupie journalistsThe article pretty much speaks for itself:
Yeah, no kidding. The press isn’t just acting like Obama is already president - they’re exceeding the sort of international coverage they have given the sitting president, who could barely buy a headline while in Africa and whose recent trip to Japan - which occurred during his birthday - went widely unnoted. But that’s the honest, balanced, unbiased mediating intelligence” of the modern day mainstream media. We don’t yet know if Couric, Gibson and Williams and the rest of the “media stars” will curtsy or bow and wait until spoken to by Obama before uttering a word. I hope they don’t slobber over their mics or cry in his presence, or I may have to reach down my gullet and vomit up a lung. You do realize, don’t you, that if a GOP candidate with weak foreign policy was doing the same thing - making a “world tour” with dramatic backdrops - the press would be sneering about how the whole thing is a “stunt” meant to “deflect his inexperience.” I know you know it, but I had to say it, anyway. The press is not helping Obama by over-pimping him. If they think independents don’t notice, they’re wrong. The thing is, Obama seems like a likeable enough guy. But folks are starting to say he seems to think “too well” of himself, and (aside from his lack of humor) not a little of that impression is caused by the press swooning and tingling over him and acting like he is barely mortal. When the press’ favoritism (and extreme ardor) is this overt, that has a tendency to put a bad taste in the mouths of people who were tuning in and hoping for something more substantive than “Evening Rockin’ News With How’d-He-Get- to-Be So Great Obama 24/7!” I miss Roger Grimsby. But be prepared - this is what the next 100 days will be like. All-Obama-all-the-time. His face will be on every channel you seek, every webpage you surf. Feel uncomfortable yet? I’m starting to. Oh my word, did you just bring back memories…I live in Arizona now, but when I lived in NJ, I watched Roger and Bill faithfully. Loved his droll sense of humor.
I have to say I can hardly believe how these people actually think that in any way Obama is capable at this time to be President of this country, especially Commander in Chief. Honest to God, where are their brains? I could go on and on, but I’ll give myself a headache. I do say, though, there might be a little hope. I say this after reading the opinion piece in the Washington Post today. God help us all if he gets elected.

I was glad that Rush pointed out Obama’s slip in the polls last week. Didn’t he have a 15 point lead a few weeks ago? Today he is virtually neck-in-neck with McCain and the press says almost nothing. They have the crown and chrism all set for the coronation of King Barry and nothing will stand in their ways… except hopefully the American voters!

[...] So the news media can’t even claim novelty when explaining this effort. When was the last time we saw any network anchor doing a remote, let alone all three at the same time? Not even the Iraq War merited it after the first elections in 2004-5, and I don’t believe that involved all three anchors at any time. Afghanistan hasn’t merited it.This is nothing more than the media fawning over Obama, and looking to give him as much earned media as they can. Their pretense of objective reporting has been ripped away, and the media looks like little more than groupies vying for the attention of a pop star, hoping that some of his popularity rubs off on them. This should embarrass journalists, but instead they’re busy rationalizing their utter lack of self-respect. (via The Anchoress) [...]

Obama’s upcoming overseas trip being treated by the mediots like Elvis’ tour of duty…
The International Herald Tribune reports on how certain “media stars” will get ringside seats for Obama’s first trip to overseas since becoming the Democrat nominee for president (via Memeo):

The anchors are doing it for their true deity - RATINGS! Especially Couric. Given her purported passion for raising awareness about combating colon cancer, one would think that she would be focusing on Tony Snow’s funeral today!

How interesting…all this press for Hussein-Obama. When Dubya went to Iraq, it was done in secret, both for his security and for the security of the troops he would be visiting. Apparently the Obama entourage doesn’t seem to care that the extra attention to this trip will endanger those on the ground, be they troops, commanding officers, or the average Iraqi he might see. When President Bush served turkey to the troops that Thanksgiving, the press even debated as to whether the turkey was “real” or a “prop” to look good for the TV cameras. I am beyond disgusted with the alphabets who push opinions rather than giving us hard news and letting us sort it out for ourselves. Their love for the person they hope is the next POTUS is way over the top.

It is indeed Frustrating!!!
I was very upset at the coverage of McCain’s trip to Columbia. I know hhings like the Columbia Free Trade Deal might not be “sexy” but they are so important. McCain supports it and Obama opposes it.
The fact that media got caught with their pants down as to the dramatic rescuee from the terrorist of the hostages should have taught them a lesson about the importance of some of these trips.

If the media is so willing to follow Obama like star-struck schoolgirls, they will surely do anything if he becomes President to make him look good.
I see an army of Durantys coming…
Obama is the Pied Piper, the Jime Jones. This will not end well, I fear.

Heh - there was more reporting on the violation of the Geneva conventions because one of the rescuers apparently had on Red Cross insignia than there was on the rescue itself. I can’t imagine the thought processes that go into that kind of news coverage.

[...] The Anchoress notes the media fawning over Obama and how that isn’t helping. All its doing is creating a monster Obama who believes his press. Personally, I think Couric, Gibson and Williams should be kneeling with face to the floor before the Obamasia instructs them to get up. They should speak only when spoken to: in a respectful and reverent way.

I can promise I will not be watching. I don’t watch network news anyway and this sure won’t change my mind. I just hope the terrorists don’t stage some big attack over there for publicity’s sake. I would hate to see a lot of innocent people get killed for this freak show.

I was fed up with groupies when people cheered Mr. Obama blowing his nose. It disgusts me that the reporters are doing the equivalent.
I remember when reporters used to sneer at PEOPLE and the like as pseudo-journalism, even though it was was the second-biggest magazine (the first was TV Guide). Now the reporters are acting like celebrity feature writers.
