“Once again I give you thanks for your merciful love, kindest Lord, for having found
another way of arousing me from my inertia.”

St. Gertrude the Great
I’ve always been a fan of the Smothers Brothers, even though I was still pretty young when they had their “controversial” TV show in the ’60s. They are graduates of my high school (Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, CA). Tom graduated in 1955 and Dick in 1957. In 2005, the school had a big 100-year anniversary celebration, where we honored a grouIp of 100 outstanding graduates. Naturally, the Smothers Brothers were included in that group, and Tom Smothers was at the ceremony. Dick did not attend.

A little know fact about me is that I cooked for Tommy Smothers on several occasions.
I’m happy to report that he didn’t sing that song…

You’d be even happier if I didn’t sing ANY song!

Almost as good as “The Balllad of Big Ben Covington”.
