“Once again I give you thanks for your merciful love, kindest Lord, for having found
another way of arousing me from my inertia.”

St. Gertrude the Great
Also, see this fellow for the rest of the story. It’s funny to contemplate - a cloistered nun honored by Sports Illustrated Magazine for “special contributions to the sport” of fishing.
It never ceases to amaze me that when the mainstream media celebrates America’s “Most Influential Women,” they never think about Mother Angelica, who has managed to rock the Catholic world with her books and her lures and peanuts and global Catholic television and radio network - all from her cloister. I think the mainstream media has difficulty thinking outside the box or recognizing real mavericks, anymore. Or maybe they simply cannot wrap their minds around the fact that this woman does unthinkable things simply because she trusts, and trust, and trusts and never fails in trust.
As I wrote here, the woman knows something about getting out of God’s way, even unto putting aside our own intellect, and our own gifts.
In an age where we’re supposed to “celebrate” ourselves, that’s a foreign notion, no?
