UPDATE: Codeblue blog’s Dr. Boyle is concerned. The CT scan making the rounds on the internet, which purports to be Terri’s indicates many things - that her cerebral cortex is NOT “a bag of liquid” and that a shunt which would be incompatible with a lack of oxygen (and more compatible with TRAUMA) has been implanted. You’ll want to check it out. I wonder if Judge Wittemore would be even remotely interested.
Nat Hentoff, of the Village Voice, is as liberal as they come, and he is also deeply committed to life. He wrote this in November, 2003. It is still an unanswered question.
Unfortunately, since Judge Wittemore did not go to the trouble of reinstating Terri’s feeding tube while hearing the case (a bad sign, I think) this sort of investigation may never happen. The question may never be answered. Michael Schiavo has stated that as soon as Terri dies he will cremate her body.
So, there will be no post mortem examination which could, conceivably point to neck injuries and the like.
In his interview with Greta Van Susteren, Dr. Baden noted “that the bone scan describes her having a head injury . . . and head injury can lead to the ‘vegetative state’ that Mrs. Schiavo is in now.”
But, Baden continued, the bone scan “does show evidence that there are other injuries, other bone fractures that are in a healing stage [in 1991].”
Those injuries could have happened, Baden continued, from “some kind of trauma. The trauma could be from an auto accident, the trauma could be from a fall, or the trauma could be from some kind of beating that she obtained from somebody somewhere. It’s something that should have been investigated in 1991 . . . and maybe [it was] by police at that time.” (Emphasis added).
Why not see if there was a police report on those traumas to Terri in 1990? The Advocacy Center for Persons With Disabilities should look into this during its investigation of possible incidents of abuse and neglect of Terri. Moreover, Pamela Hennessy, spokesperson for Terri’s parents and her brother, told cnsnews.com, “This is what the family and their doctors have been saying for a number of years.”
I asked Hennessy to clarify that statement. “From the beginning,” she told me, “they had serious doubts as to the reason for Terri’s collapse. Then, when they first heard about the bone-scan report in November of last year, they tried to file a report with the police on a possible battery on Terri. But the police wouldn’t help them.” See…to my way of thinking, this de novo hearing should have been an opportunity to put all of the evidence on the table, and maybe even order up the MRI Terri has never had. I don’t know how the judge can render his decision without all the information.
But then, I’m not a judge, I’m just a humble anchoress. What do I know?

Hmmmm…this is interesting. From NewsMax, so who knows…but interesting.
“At least three times during any shift where I took care of Terri, I made sure to give Terri a wet washcloth filled with ice chips, to keep her mouth moistened. I personally saw her swallow the ice water and never saw her gag.
“[Another CNA] and I frequently put orange juice or apple juice in her washcloth to give her something nice to taste, which made her happy. On three or four occasions I personally fed Terri small mouthfuls of Jello, which she was able to swallow and enjoyed immensely.”
Law testified that the only reason she didn’t attempt to feed Ms. Schiavo more frequently was “because I was so afraid of being caught by Michael.”
As I wrote in the comments section of a different post, there are legitimate questions about whether or not this woman has been accurately diagnosed. She has never had an MRI. She has been denied a wheel chair. She has been denied therapy. She has been denied the sacraments of her religion, a television or radio in her room.
There are questions as to what PRECISELY caused her initial collapse, since her electrolyte level was NOT where he should have been to cause a collapse. What is the harm in allowing this woman to live while an objective party INVESTIGATES this story in full, figures out WHY she collapsed, exactly what is wrong with her brain, and what might help her. Why this odd sense that people don’t WANT that sort of surety?
She interacts with her surroundings. Her brain is NOT mush. To be willing to err on the side of DEATH - something most liberals won’t do re the death penalty - is a very DUBIOUS position.

Remember when Elian Gonzales was rescued and brought to America, where his mother wanted him to be raised? Remember how she wanted it so badly, that she died trying to make it happen?
And how the Democrats - uncharacteristically - declared that what the mother wanted didn’t matter - the kid should be with his FATHER, back to Castro and Communism!
And the Republicans - uncharacteristically - said, “no…no…keep him here, where his mother wanted him, in freedom!”
Since then we’ve watched the Democrats become reactionaries, mired, unwilling to move from the status quo, on any issue.
And we’ve watched the Republicans become revolutionaries.
With this action, the reversal is complete. The Democrats, who have no problem pulling children from their parents at the slightest hint of abuse, even if the parents are NOT abusive, are suddenly against government intervention; they do not like the government intervening to help parents save their daughter’s life in the face of a husband’s suspicious insistance.
The Republicans, who normally don’t like government intervening into private matters, feel compelled to do so, because there is every indication that this woman has not been given a fair shake, diagnostically, therapuetically or otherwise.
The Democrats, concerned about saving caribou in Alaska, have no concerns about saving a human being in Florida. Concerned about starving people all over the world, they contend that Terri’s starvation will be peaceful and easy.
The world is upside down.
But I love, love, LOVE The Captain’s take on this: By all means, I’d love to see the same people who claim that the federal government has no right to intervene in this act explain their opposition to torture when interrogating Islamofascist terrorists (which I do oppose, just to make clear). Since all dehydration does is cause someone to fall gently asleep, might I presume we’ll be adding that to the list of approved interrogation methods at Guantanamo Bay?
There is a palpable vibe, here, that can no longer be ignored.
What do these five names have in common?
Terri Schiavo John Paul II Lucia George W. Bush The Blessed Virgin, Mary
Can you find the thread?
There is a thread. Look. Look closely. Don’t smirk. Don’t roll your eyes. Just for once, don’t try to show that you’re too smart or too sophisticated to believe in strange things. Look!
God has this habit of using the humblest of materials to do His bidding.
Mud and spittle to cure the blind. Moses, a man slow of tongue, to confront a dictator and lead God’s people to freedom. (!) Peter, the emotional hothead who made as many mistakes as a man can make.
Mary, too, has this habit of using what is humble. There are two great Marian visionaries in modern history - (from two indisputable, miraculous apparitions) the first is Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes.
Bernadette is poor, sickly, academically about as ungifted as a person could be, so ignorant that her reception of Holy Communion is delayed until she could finally articulate the idea…yet somehow, this humble creature, in obedience to this heavenly apparition, digs a spring with her hands, and the water heals. This girl who can’t recite the simplest information from her catechism manages to repeat these strange syllables: “The Lady said: ‘I am the Immaculate Conception!’” Humble before authority, she is never intimidated or cowed. When pressed, again and again, before tribunal after tribunal, to give her accounting she serenely tells them, “It’s my job only to inform, not to convince.”
The other great Marian visionary is Lucia, the eldest of the three children of Fatima, another dirt-poor, unlearned girl whose job it is only “to inform, ” not to persuade. She is told her cousins will die young, and they do, but that she will live to see something. She lives for a very long time.
God uses the humble to do His bidding. When He sends Mary out there, she does, too.
All of the apparitions given to Lucia occur on the 13th of the month, except one, when Lucia was physically prevented from going where she was told to go. She lives a long time, in good health, completely in her wits. Some keep wondering…why is she still alive? What is it that Lucia has been promised she will see?
But more is going on. Much more.
A boy is born in the humbled and humiliated country of Poland. He is Wojtyla. His mother dies when he is very small. His father is a working man, and he raises his son in the faith before he too dies at a young age. The son is very bright, very capable - a scholar and an artist! But while still very young he is put under a jackboot. He is made a slave of brutal killers - dark, dark proponents of a Culture of Death that is ever-growing. When his enslavement ends, he is put under another jackboot, this time of Communism - the other side of the same, massive Culture of Death. Feeling called to serve, he attends seminary underground.
Elevated to an extraordinary global position, he is laid low when an assassin attacks, on the 13th, on an important anniversary for Lucia. On his watch, with the influence of two others, the world begins to change in dramatic ways.
Wojtyla and Lucia meet. Several times.
He gets old, and his aging is ungraceful and hard to watch, “we turned our faces away,” and yet he keeps going. It is almost as if he, too, is waiting for something to happen before he can die. Meanwhile…
A man who is slow of tongue and estimated to be nothing more than an amiable dunce with the nickname “Dubya” is elected to the Presidency of the most powerful nation in the world - a nation that is still struggling to stay ahead of the Culture of Death that has overshadowed so many other countries. The events leading up to his election are unprecedented in his nation’s history. A battle ensues, and the man who (even the NY Times and Reuters eventually agree) won the vote by mere hundreds, finally ascends to the office. He gets a few legislative victories, but he himself doesn’t seem particularly substantial; many wonder what he is really about.
In August, he is handed a challenge that requires a deft hand. He must find a way to please God and Man on an issue of science and ethics, and - to the very great surprise of many - he manages it. Even his most ardent detractors say, “not bad. But he’s still - overall - not impressive.”
Not impressive. Kinda humble material, actually. He mangles the English language. He’s a former drunk. He has a habit of smirking.
And then, his nation is attacked, and he literally BECOMES. The water-treading stops, and for all of his weaknesses of speech, he puts a message out, and it’s clear, and it’s bold, and it’s visionary.
HUH?
He makes a speech before the joint houses, and it is staggering and memorable, and people comment on his commanding presence and on the almost luminous quality to him. They use that word: Luminous.
That’s an interesting word. Luminous. It is the correct word to describe him on this evening. But an odd word, nonetheless. It makes one go back and think of that other slow-of-tongue, faulty human creature, Moses, who also became Luminous, and to remember the circumstances leading to his luminosity.
Dubya, so luminous that many turn their faces away, does what he seems to have been charged to do. He stands before the machinations of every organized group of dissenters, and nearly every government, in the world.
Truly. In the world.
He stands utterly alone, resolute and unbending, and he does NOT back down; he doesn’t even waver.
Oh, and he meets with Wojtyla. Several times. Once, he goes out of his way for such a meeting, scheduling it abruptly, with the meeting kept private.
He insists - he INSISTS - that elections - in a country which no one thinks will embrace Democracy - will go forward, and that they will go forward on time, on a date specified. And they do. The elections go forward and the world sits up and watches in wonder.
“Something,” says the world, “is happening.”
And then one day, on the 13th of the month that directly follows the Iraqi elections, Lucia - hidden and healthy - simply dies.
Perhaps Lucia has had her glimpse of the promised land?
There is a thread. Can you follow it? See it yet?
Today is Palm Sunday. The man named Wojtyla, whose own voice has been nearly silenced, nevertheless calls out to the world, and what he says is this: BEHOLD! With my body crooked and failing, with my voice nearly silenced, with my face frozen and expressionless, in all of my weariness, I LIVE. My body is no longer obedient, and you would not want it, and yet, I LIVE. LEARN THIS LESSON, before it is too late, before you enter into a heart of darkness, into the abyss of the Culture of Death, from which I, myself was delivered, of which I have been warning for all these years. It is a hungry culture, the Culture of Death, and you must STOP FEEDING IT! Hear, O my people, hear the lesson. It is: I LIVE! It is not the life you would want, but it is the life I HAVE, and I will live it!
And here is how I will know that you have learned this lesson: In a far-off country, there is a woman, who is as humble a creature as exists on this earth. And yet…she DOES exist. She LIVES. It is not the life you would want, but it is the life SHE HAS. LET HER LIVE IT!
Today is Palm Sunday. Today, the man nicknamed “Dubya,” the imperfect but luminous man with the mangled speech, is clearing his schedule to try to do what he can to demonstrate that the lesson of Wojtyla is understood. He is trying to save this woman from the hungry, insatiable jaws of the Culture of Death.
They are doing someone’s bidding, Dubya and Wojtyla. As did Lucia.
And Terri Schiavo, humblest of creatures, may be the mud and spittle that can begin to heal a tremendous chasm which had been opened in our world. She may, perhaps, be the material used to defeat the Culture of Death.
It is Palm Sunday. Holy Week begins. Time magazine, as secular a news publication as there is, features The Blessed Virgin, Mary on its cover, and informs that she has begun to appeal to others who once dismissed her, they are beginning to understand.
Mary. The Orthodox church calls her THEOTOKOS: The God Bearer, for she bore in her body, and delivered unto us…THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE.
There is a thread. There are no accidents. Something is happening.
Was doing some laundry and thinking about Terri Schiavo, and ruminating on how Michael Schiavo’s attorney has asked for democrat support, calling on Sen. Kerry and Sen. Clinton by name.
Interesting that John Kerry, who has an opinion about everything, these days, is so very silent on this issue. Considering how anxious he is to keep his mug before the cameras, you’d think he’d be out there, saying that he’s a Catholic who respects life, but respects law first, or some such crap.
But then I realized…no…the Democrat who is getting all the headlines these days for supposedly “reaching out” to the pro-life side, for claiming to want to find some “common ground” on the issue, is Hillary Clinton.
Okay. She’s supposed to be so smart, and so courageous…where is she?
How about it, Mrs. Clinton? We know you’re not in Chappaqua with Bill, and we know that if you want a press conference, all you have to do is ask. Let’s hear it, honey. Can we find some COMMON GROUND as to whether this LIVING, BREATHING WOMAN should be starved to death?
You’ve got the 100% rating with NARAL…you’ve got the 100% rating with NOW. YOU, more than any other politician on the left can afford to TAKE THE TINIEST OF POLITICAL HITS from your own party, because you know that even if you stand up for Terri, they’ll all still love you. Hell, you could stand on the steps of Disney World and eat puppy brains from a skull, and those folks would still love you.
You can AFFORD to help save this woman’s life. For that matter, you NEED to gain a few points with the side that doesn’t trust you as far as they can throw you - and you can accomplish that, at such LITTLE risk to yourself, by gallumphing over to a microphone and suggesting that maybe, just maybe, there are unanswered questions concerning Terri’s initial illness and subsequent treatment (complete lack of therapy, among other things) that warrant a closer look, and that MAYBE, just MAYBE…a woman who is breathing on her own and is responsive to her surroundings might not deserve to be starved to death.
Maybe…just MAYBE, if you really, really want to convince people that your incessant, new call for “common ground” means anything…you can suggest than when a question of life or death is being asked…it is perhaps best to err on the side of LIFE.
After all, it’s what you think about the Death Penalty, right?
In his considered opinion…based entirely on, apparently, nothing more than superficial reading of the media memes…it’s time to let Terri go.
In reading between the lines on this piece, I see a guy who gave the issue a cursory glance and said, “Oh, pro-life conservatives. Well, we know all about THEM! Woman’s vegetative! They should just deal with it. Husband’s been targeted by some great organized effort. Just like the rest of the conservative Bushitler youths.”
I mean…I can’t help it…that’s what I’m reading. Maybe you read it differently.

I’m getting a bunch of emails, all saying the same thing, which is basically, “where is God? How can this happen? I am losing hope!”
I’m sorry but there is no way I can respond to them all, so I will do it collectively: You people better not lose heart! You buck up and snap out of it, right now! Don’t make me go all Pattonesque on your asses!
This is a battle. In every war there are small and large battles, there are victories and defeats - and in every war there is always ONE battle that becomes the turning point, and it is usually the most fierce battle, the one that is hardest fought, and which sees the advantage go first to one side, then to another. This is a battle. You keep fighting.
There was no way any action today was going to be the definitive “end all” action that settled the question of whether Terri Schiavo lives or dies. And if her tube is removed today, that doesn’t mean it won’t be replaced tomorrow.
Hold fast! You stay strong in the Lord and you keep going, you don’t cave and think God has abandoned you, and you DON’T let the other side see your weeping or your fear. You gird your loins and go where you don’t want to go.
This is a battle. This is a war. Even now, angels are doing battle amongst us, all around us - angels of darkness, wanting to pull that tube - angels of light fighting against it. They are waging battle in myriad ways that we cannot even imagine.
But Peggy Noonan made a brilliant point: There is almost no one on the side of the Evil in this case (and yes, a 16-year campaign to destroy life when every chance to walk away has been given you can wear the name of Evil.) There are many on the side of the Good.
What she didn’t say - and what is perhaps very important as concerns this battle - is that there is a whole swath of people in the middle, who couldn’t care less, who are wondering what Oprah is going to have on at 4:00 PM and where they should shop, tomorrow. And THESE are the ones who can weaken the one side and give strength to the other. Between those who “care” but are afraid to take action - can we name a few politicians? - and those who don’t care at all, the balance gets tilted toward the dark.
Apathy is always a friend of the Evil, and no help to the Good. What must happen, for this battle to be won is this: We must capture the imagination of the apathetic; they must be made to look up from People Magazine and tonight’s movie listings, and SEE what is happening, and they have to imagine themselves being in Terry’s position - suffering no fatal illness, able to smile, recognise Mom, giggle and respond to pain, able to FEEL hunger and thirst.
It is very late to begin such a rigorous course of education. Or perhaps it is exactly the right time. There is so much wrong information out there, and I believe that the press, far from wishing Terri’s death, is simply too lazy to find out exactly what is going on, or to think of an NEW vocabulary to describe Terri, apart from the “vegatativestatebraindead” meme. Kathryn Lopez says CNN has had very fair, even sympathetic coverage, even showing some of the videotape. That’s a start. Now, we bombard the media with phone calls and we email them all of the correct information they might be missing, and we call Washington, and we KEEP THE PRESSURE UP.
Then, because we are only puny humans, and we can do no more in this battle that is ultimately out of our hands, we PRAY. We FAST. And we TRUST. Who are any of us to suggest that God has walked away from this situation? How do you know that things aren’t breaking exactly as God wishes…that He perhaps WISHES to have the eyes of the nation FOCUSED on this issue, before it is resolved…so that perhaps such issues will never have to get to this point again…so that people will, perhaps begin to seriously think of the question of life, and the value of human life no matter how compromised. So that laws will be changed to always “err on the side of life.”
God is going to teach us something, if we pay attention. It is the same lesson He is teaching us through the suffering of John Paul II. And it is a lesson for the whole world.
Do not be fooled into thinking that God has no hand in this. His ways are not our ways! “For who can know the mind of God…” We know this: there is a separation of wheat and chaff that must take place. And many, many innocent lives have ALWAYS been lost in the pursuit of justice, and yes, the unthinkable may occur! Terry’s innocent life may be one of them - she may be like the Holy Innocents who fell under Herod’s sword, or like any one of a thousand metaphorical sacrificial lambs led to slaughter over the last 2000 years. But justice does win out, and GOOD triumphs over evil. Always. ALWAYS.
I happen to believe that Terri will live…that this battle will be won. I just believe it. We’re asking our Father for a loaf of bread. He will not give us a stone. And I believe it because to believe otherwise is profoundly negative, and Christ is not found in negatives.
A light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it. Get a mental image in your head of Mother Theresa, standing beside Terri’s bed, daring anyone to harm her. That tough old broad would never in a million years go running off and crying in the face of a tough battle. Nor should you. HOLD FAST. God has earned your trust.
A commenter named Frances remarked in one of the Terri threads that “it feels like Good Friday.”
It certainly has.
So, here is where we stand: Drudge and the Captain (who bless him came pretty recently to the fight but has brought his considerable passion, talent, integrity and credible influence to it) Medical workers and Michael Schiavo and Terri Schiavo, herself are being subpoenaed. Good. It’s a start. This thing is far from finished.
I think the key in this case are these fact questions. This woman has not gotten a fair shake in the judicial process. And medically, she may not have gotten what she could–like the chance at rehab. If more people knew some of these basic facts of unfairness, and could see some of these videos (a point Andy has made), I think this “issue” would transcend labels and things.
Exactly right. I know people who are pro-lifers who haven’t given Terri’s case a passing glance because they’re assuming that everything that can be done for Terri has been done, that her husband knows best and that, hey…these are just those FANATIC pro-lifers, at it again…
They don’t realize that one of the driving forces behind this concerted effort to save Terri’s life is the fact that this woman has been treated abominably, and simply HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN A FAIR SHAKE, either by her husband, who has not allowed her to have a television or a radio (which might stimulate) in her room. He has not allowed her to have therapy, or even to have the consolation of the sacraments, (God forbid, there might be a miracle and she might be able to talk, or something) or by the courts.
I said earlier that what is at issue here is whether we allow someone to be killed, who wasn’t allowed to be saved, all those years ago. And that is a huge issue. And the answer to that question will determine a great deal about our future. Meanwhile, you’ll want to keep checking back with Blogs for Terri for the latest. Also, Eric says this good news for Terri is bad news for Michael. He’s right. Michael Schiavo does not, I am sure, want a serious investigation into the last 16 years, nor a slew of reporters asking questions. This is not good for him.

In fact Charlotte is the ironic velvet glove behind the Independent Woman’s Forum, and she has written an excellent piece on Terri which calls much into question, and wonders where all those vanguards of feminism are in Terri’s case. Why DON’T those weeping sisters care that a bunch of MEN are trying to kill this helpless woman?
It’s a good question, one begun by Kathryn Jean Lopez over at NRO’s Corner, (she notes that the National Organization for Women have “nada” on their website re Terri) and well-taken up by Charlotte, who writes:
That elite, of course, includes NOW, the Foundation for a Feminist Majority, and other feminist-establishment groups that are more devoted to their own abstract ideology than to the plight of real women who are really abused by men. NOW and the rest of them didn’t lift a finger on Laci Peterson’s behalf because…she was pregnant when she was killed and NOW supports abortion rights. And they’re not lifting a finger to interfere with Michael Schiavo, the slo-mo Scott Peterson who, like his California counterpart, seems to want to kill his wife because she’s interfering with his lifestyle. If you look at the congressional debate over saving Terri, you’ll see that it breaks down along the usual ideological and political lines: Republicans scrambling to put off her scheduled starvation, liberal Dems saying: Go Michael!
Terri’s diagnosis was arrived at without the benefit of testing that most neurologists would consider standard for diagnosing PVS. One such test is MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). MRI is widely used today, even for ailments as simple as knee injuries — but Terri has never had one. Michael has repeatedly refused to consent to one. The neurologists I have spoken to have reacted with shock upon learning this fact. One such neurologist is Dr. Peter Morin. He is a researcher specializing in degenerative brain diseases, and has both an M.D. and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Boston University. In the course of my conversation with Dr. Morin, he made reference to the standard use of MRI and PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scans to diagnose the extent of brain injuries. He seemed to assume that these had been done for Terri. I stopped him and told him that these tests have never been done for her; that Michael had refused them.
There was a moment of dead silence.
“That’s criminal,” he said, and then asked, in a tone of utter incredulity: “How can he continue as guardian? People are deliberating over this woman’s life and death and there’s been no MRI or PET?” He drew a reasonable conclusion: “These people [Michael Schiavo, George Felos, and Judge Greer] don’t want the information.”
Dr. Morin explained that he would feel obligated to obtain the information in these tests before making a diagnosis with life and death consequences. I told him that CT (Computer-Aided Tomography) scans had been done, and were partly the basis for the finding of PVS. The doctor retorted, “Spare no expense, eh?” I asked him to explain the comment; he said that a CT scan is a much less expensive test than an MRI, but it “only gives you a tenth of the information an MRI does.” He added, “A CT scan is useful only in pretty severe cases, such as trauma, and also during the few days after an anoxic (lack of oxygen) brain injury. It’s useful in an emergency-room setting. But if the question is ischemic injury [brain damage caused by lack of blood/oxygen to part of the brain] you want an MRI and PET. For subsequent evaluation of brain injury, the CT is pretty useless unless there has been a massive stroke.”
It is unthinkable and immoral - beyond words immoral - to starve this woman to death when she hasn’t even been accurately diagnosed! And you must read the whole thing - the description of Terri being punched between the eyes by one doctor during his “examination” made me want to hit something, myself. There is evil being perpetrated against this woman. She is MUCH sinned against. I’m so angry right now, I can’t see straight!
And, as far as Judge Greer is concerned, Terri’s starvation may commence in less than 12 hours.
Prayer and fasting…and lots of phone calls! The first started tonight. The second as soon as I awaken, tomorrow morning!
UPDATE: Happy Catholic shares a really good prayer for Terri. I DO love the Communion of Saints.
St. Jude, the Church honors you universally as the patron of things despaired of. Today we ask for your help at a moment of great need. The hour is late; the night deepens. We beseech you, glorious apostle; use your special place in heaven to pray that the life of Terry Schaivo be spared.
St. Faustina, Apostle of the Divine Mercy, in life you taught us that Jesus is limitless love and unfathomable mercy. Pray with us, that Christ’s tender mercy be upon Terry Schaivo. Jesus, we trust in you.
Archangel Michael, we seek your aid. The forces of darkness come ever near another victory. We have reached the last bastion and our forces are nearly spent. We ask that you come to the defense of Terry Schaivo. Shield her from the forces of evil that seduce the hearts of men.
Mary, ever Virgin, we pray for your help. By the words of your Son we know you to be our mother and the mother of Terry Schaivo. Hold our dear sister and her family close to your heart. Pray with us, Holy Mother of God, that her life be spared and health restored.
All the angels and saints in Heaven, please, pray with us.
Almighty and eternal God, healer of those who trust in you, hear our prayers for Terry Schaivo. If it be your will, spare her life. Restore her to health, that she may give you thanks and praise with her own voice, and thus be a symbol to all the world of the sacred nature of life. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen
UPDATE II: After reading this article in NRO, Captain Ed is pretty incensed and writing as well as ever on it, bless him! Also, Wuzzadem has run out of patience with the people who are opining without the facts. He busts some myths - go read.
